Apartment/roommate search!
May. 1st, 2013 12:43 amYou guys have always been so helpful, even to non-regulars/lurkers like me. Thank you. :)
I'm looking for an apartment--preferably a year lease, or a sublet that allows for a lease renewal. Single occupancy or a friendly, down-to-earth, kind roommate(s?). Hoping to spend no more than $1200/mo, including some utilities--preferably a few hundred less. // ETA: Looking to move no later than Aug/Sept, when my lease is up, or earlier if something good (and solid/stable!) comes up.
(I did post looking for a housing situation a few months ago as well...I found a place in East Watertown late last year, but just learned this weekend that the landlord is foreclosing on this house. AUUGGH.)
About me: Female young professional, early 30s, employed as a designer (user experience design + web/graphic/visual design), vegetarian, violin-playing, nonsmoking and only occasionally drinking, very chill and conscientious and responsible and open-minded and a good communicator. Also, allergic to dust, so I'm fairly clean/tidy (but not obsessively so). "Coffeehouses over clubs" describes me very aptly--I like to have friends over for occasional chill hangouts/dinners/movies but nothing more than that. (I had one horrible roommate last year who neglected to mention that she brought the party home--including loud bedroom shenanigans--and had a drinking problem to top it off. Never again.)
Sorry, my brain's fired after 2 straight hours of Craigslisting, so I'll leave this here. Please let me know if you've got any specific questions or if I left out anything glaringly obvious. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Date: 2013-05-01 02:09 pm (UTC)At any point this summer would be great--my agreement with him is up in August, so unless he's gotten the house out of foreclosure by then, I feel like I should move on.

Date: 2013-05-01 06:01 pm (UTC)Hello! Is it weird to say, "I think we could be friends!"? (Wait, this is the internet.)
Good luck in your housing search! I have a lot of classmates from law school who are looking for places; if I hear anything promising I'll drop you a comment here.

Date: 2013-05-01 09:19 pm (UTC)I wish I did! I haven't had the time in law school, unfortunately, but I do jam with my friends sometimes. One of my previous roommates is a professional violist, so we'd duet together at home. She's much better than I am, but we still had fun. It'd be nice to be back up to speed again! My brother is a very talented guitarist so we put together a CD at the holidays for our folks (violin, piano, guitar, recorder, singing) as a thank you for years of music-lessons. I'm jealous that you get to play in a formal capacity!
Have you ever been to the MFA here? Their music room is glorious. There's a Stradivarius on display in another part of the museum, but the music room itself is just so much fun. :D
