Long cover story of today's Globe Magazine:

The great froyo gold rush:
Are frozen yogurt entrepreneurs cashing in on the next big thing — or betting their fortunes on a fad?

It's not entirely about Davis Square, but a lot of it is, with special focus on our iYo, Orange Leaf, and (soon) Pinkberry shops.

I want to see a cage match between coffee shops, burrito joints, and froyo places in Davis Square. Eventually that's all we'll have left.

*wishes Davis had a Berryline* Mmm, Berryline original with mochi and grated Taza.

some chains add a lot of milk powder to make their greek yogurt seem richer. i am not a fan of this. there are also significant calorie differences between the different brands..i can also taste the difference between the different brands.

I prefer berryline and pinkberry over iyo, orange leaf and red mango.

Whichever froyo place offers corn syrup-free options is gonna get my dollars, local or not. I'd even give up self-serve to get better ingredients.

This is the first I've heard of Pinkberry coming to Davis Square, so YAY.
