So our countertop portable dishwasher is no longer operating properly, and I definitely lack the knowledge on how to fix it (plus with parts it's probably more efficient to just get a new one).

What are the odds that trash will take it without a White Goods sticker? It's a smaller model, about 2 feet cubed, and probably smaller than some TVs people have put out for pickup.

If the city definitely won't take it without a sticker, what are my non-DPW options? Taking time off of work to deal with city bureaucracy isn't an option. :)

Normally I wouldn't post for sale on Davis Square, but can I interest you in a used portable (non counter top) dishwasher for cheap, or do you not have the space?

(I too think you can just put it on the curb.)

This. I have a scrap guy I call everytime something like this comes up. He comes *very* quickly and there are tons more on craigslist.

In case you do need that sticker, City Hall is open until 7:30 pm on Thursdays.

The scrappers around here are very dependable. Our experience is that anything metal - and cardboard boxes as well - is/are gone within hours of being put outside on the eve of garbage collection - without even posting on Craigslist. Good luck!

oh definitely, if it's trash night anyways. I find that if it's not trash night, it might sit a day before someone finds it (but that's because I live on a little side street not frequently traveled).

cardboard boxes get taken? I didn't know those had scrap value?

I was surprised by the boxes getting taken as well. I don't know why anyone would want them, but I'm a lot more careful about what personal information I leave on them now! It was unnerving when we first moved in and the boxes were gone within minutes of us putting them out. That never happened on our old street, just a few blocks away.

Maybe by people who will reuse them for moving? I often see requests for boxes here on DSLJ.
