Does anyone know what the water bill readings are rounded off to the nearest 100?   EG on my water bill the readings show as 31900.   The last 2 digits are always 00, or in the history section, they are dropped off entirely.

Also what units are these readings in.   Bill shows C.U.   What is that?  Cubic unit?  What does that mean?

The Water Department's page on the Somerville website doesn't seem to have related content for these answers.

water bills are ususally to the nearest 100 ft^3 - about 750 gallons

They usually round the meter reading up to the next 100 cu ft, but the meter itself isn't changed so in the end it roughly evens out (or some meters only measure in blocks of 100, but again it's accurate in the long run). When you move, some towns let you get a precise meter reading and you can pay the exact amount (but it's not really worth the trouble, but when you sell a place you sometimes have to do this).

I'd guess what others say, the units are "CCF", hundreds of cubit feet.
