I bet this project won't be finished until late 2020's. It's taking them 2 years just to extend the bike path from Cedar to Lowell St.

In the video, large parts of it seem very narrow. Will it be wide enough to be shared by cyclists and pedestrians?

I thought the same, but then how unpleasant so much of it looked for pedestrians - the whole part from the beginning until after the McGrath Highway crossing - and as a pedestrian I'd MUCH rather just walk on sidewalks than that Habitrail.

But pedestrians have sidewalks; this mostly looks great for cyclists (to a non-cyclist's eye), but I wonder about the sharp turns on & off the bridge over the tracks just S of Washington St. (starting at about 1:50)? Especially with that apparently narrow path & probable oncoming bike traffic confining you to your own lane.

It sounds as if it will be 8 to 12 feet wide, with 8 being the minimum at pinch points.

Holy Shit is this dangerous! That looks like a very long stretch with no side exits, no businesses, no houses. If I'm riding home at night and a Creeper who is a stronger rider than me decides to follow me, pace me, pin me to the side fence, I have literally no escape. Way to make cycling as dangerous as possible for women, men of slight build, or literally anyone who someone thinks they can get away with mugging. :-( :-(

Coordinating by cell phone from Lechmere to Washinginton St. two big guys, even just on foot, could trap someone in there using nothing more than a tire iron.

That's a suicide ride.

Seems like the long North Bank Bridge from East Cambridge to Charlestown would have similar issues, but I haven't heard of anyone being attacked there so far.
