Just an update: my cat Romeo, who managed to get out the living room window and went walkabout for a month, just came home tonight--he's been hanging out in the neighborhood all along (we got lots of reports of sightings, plus my roommate and I saw him a couple of time), nomming on all the cat food I (and a number of neighbors) leave out for stray cats. Tonight I first saw him on the other side of the screen door as I came into the kitchen, and talked to him a bit before he ran off; a little while later he came back (after I'd propped the door open) and, after a couple of false starts, ran into my room, at which point the door was rapidly closed! A calming treat and some tuna later, he seems to be doing OK, and once my roommate gets home, we'll see about getting his new collar on him. Thank you SO much to everyone who read my flyers, kept an eye out, or just thought good thoughts that my little stinker would be OK!
On a related note: anyone know of a pet groomer/any particularly brave person who would agree to make a house call to trim Romeo's nails? He's a polydactyl w/very sensitive feet who gets EXTREMELY irate when anyone messes with his feet, but during his month on the run, his claws have become razor-sharp, and since he can't quite retract all of them, well...it gets rather painful to be on the receiving end of his biscuit-kneading. Suggestions, brave offers of assistance, etc. welcome!
