Tomorrow is state primary election day. Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm.

There are contested statewide Democratic races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and treasurer -- all offices whose current occupants are not seeking re-election. In addition, there's a contest for Middlesex County district attorney. If you live in Somerville Ward 4 or 7 or adjoining parts of Medford, you also have a contested race for the state representative seat recently vacated by Carl Sciortino.

If you are enrolled in a party, you may take only that party's primary ballot. If you are NOT enrolled (independent), you may choose which party's ballot to take. The Republican ballot has only a single contested race, for Governor.

To find out where to vote, and to see a sample ballot, go to http://WhereDoIVoteMA.com and enter your street address.

If you have moved within the past 20 days, or since you last registered to vote, you will need to return to your old address's polling place to vote.

The Massachusetts League of Women Voters has posted a voters' guide for statewide offices -- worth a look if you still aren't sure who to vote for. See also the candidate responses to Progressive Massachusetts' questionnaires.

There were just under 200 voters at ward 5.1 when I was there around 1pm. Sigh. Seen worse, though.

Well, no waiting!
