Phone call from "PalmCo" wanting to change my electricity supplier

I just got an unsolicited phone call from a company called "PalmCo", at 617-274-6669, trying to persuade me that their electric rates would be lower than NStar Eversource. The sales rep wanted me to go fetch my electric bill. Instead, I told him I wanted to look the company up on the Internet, and hung up.

If he calls me again, I'll ask him about the 88 negative reviews they got on Yelp. And the New Jersey Attorney General's lawsuit against them, alleging fraud. I don't see a single positive mention of them anywhere else on the Net. Avoid!

Has anyone ever had a positive experience with any of these alternative services? I've only heard bad things.

Also I don't really understand how Eversource can be providing all the service but these guys get to take over the bill.

To help separate legitimate competitive suppliers from thieves, consult the list of licensed competitive suppliers on Eversource's web site. For what it's worth, "PalmCo" is not listed there.

I've used Dominion Energy (who don't supply to residents anymore) and Verde Energy with no issues (saved some money over NSTAR and got a $75 rebate from Verde)

But they are listed on the Mass. Department of Public Utilities list of competitive suppliers.

These people have also been making house calls. Call me crazy, but when someone shows up at your door unsolicited and will wait while you go get your utility bill for them to look at? I think they are a scammer.

I didn't open the door, but the downstairs people did.

Verde just called me also, this morning, from 860-973-1641 in Bristol, Connecticut. Why are competitive electricity suppliers exempt from the Do Not Call list?
