I was thinking that the location was much in your favor. The Powder House park is very pretty as landscaping, but very few people actually pass *through* it as opposed to near it. The same problem of isolation simply does not occur in Seven Hills Park.
I absolutely agree that the leering and harassment is unacceptable. But the generalization that it's not safe to do an all-female production in a public park is, I'm reasonably sure, false. Again, *not excusing the behavior*, but I would consider who the normal/daily users of a park are when looking for a venue, and not consider only the physical setting.
I am curious to what degree these men were doing what they would do anywhere they were alone with women, and to what degree they were being territorial over "their" park. I would otherwise leave alone the matter of bringing "art to a community that lacked it", but given this train of thought I do wonder what community is meant. One reading is, the denizens of the park.
