I found a flyer on my porch (not in the mailbox) advertising a meeting regarding the proposal of a mixed -use development in that space. The shop closed a few months ago as the
owners retired. The meeting will be held at the site 346-352 Highland Ave.

The flyer was tuck into my porch railing and I would have tossed it had not a neighbor alerted me to the flyer.

I think it's illegal for anyone but the USPS to put things in your mailbox, which is why restaurants and flying folks and such tuck their papers elsewhere.

This is true.

I would like to see flyers for community meetings be placed near the door to bring extra attention to them, however. Stuffing them on railing and in fences invites pedestrians to snatch them out of curiosity.

The meeting had about 30+ people. The architect is Peter Quinn Architects and the lawyer was Richard Di Girolamo. The y propose a mixed use building with retail on the bottom (not specified but most people in the room would favor a coffee shop) And there are four condos with inside parking. Some were vehemently opposed to anything. But most were opposed to the design of the building which IMHO is a disgrace. It is a flat topped building with one indentation in the condo floors to break up the flat exterior. The design does not fit into the neighborhood at all. There is nothing that says Somerville. The designer is going back to the drawing board to look into a change in the roof line. A neighbor mentioned that a pitched roof might compromise the space in the condo, hence the ugly box-like shape.
