I tried to go to Yumi for the 1st time last night and the place was completely dark at 7pm. No sign on the door, no sign of disaster. From what little we could see, the tables were set, and the place was just empty/locked.

Anyone have any idea what was up?

Did another hot pot place (after the one in Porter Galleria) just suddenly go OOB? (ETA: No, they didn't, but we still don't know why they were closed on Wed, Mar. 30)

Huh. No idea, but I sure didn't understand their pricing — $29 all-you-can-eat, or a $14 combo with meat, veggies, broth, and noodles which was way more than I can eat.

I'm still pissed about Akai Ryu

I ate there on Easter Sunday--not too many customers besides me and my friends, so maybe they aren't getting enough business? OTOH that could have been because it was a holiday...

I love hot pot and was excited about their opening, but when i saw their weird prices and their lack of selection, I didn't bother... with both Akai Ryu and Little Q nearby, who both offered things like a choice of broth for lower prices, I wasn't too thrilled by Yumi. (EDIT: I just checked Yelp and it sounds like they started offering multiple broth options awhile back, which is cool.)

I often stop by for take-out sushi and it's quite good. Ask about their ongoing special -- 2 rolls for $10 or 3 for $15. They also have a nice selection of both fish and veggie sushi. My favorites are the sweet potato roll and the spicy salmon roll : )

I'm not a hot pot expert, but for whatever it's worth, I think Shabu & Mein (between Kendall and Lechemere) is really good. Very slightly more expensive, but better ingredients too — and way more broth options.

They are open today. I just walked by there and talked to an employee (or maybe the owner) through the open window. He told me they are always closed on Mondays (but you say you went on Wednesday, so that doesn't explain it)

Would you consider editing your post?
