Fun video: The Mayor's family site visit! And the dog! Check out how a roof gets evaluated for solar. And go to Solarize Somerville and sign up for your own consultation. Then you'll have the data in front of you to decide if solar is right for your home.
Important educational event:
Thursday 9/29: Solar 101. The next Solarize Somerville big educational outreach event is Thursday September 29, at the Ralph & Jenny Center, 9 New Washington St. Somerville. This is an evening of informational talks hosted by the Somerville Commission on Energy Use and Climate Change (CEUCC) and presented by representatives of the City of Somerville, the selected installer for Somerville SolarFlair, and the city's volunteer Solar Coach. We will help residents to understand some of the basic of solar power, the Solarize program benefits, and the process of going solar.
Doors open at 6pm. Talks begin at 6:30pm. Done by 8pm. Light snacks provided.

Unusual event:
Solar Open House, Sunday 9/25, 11am-3pm: I'm inviting folks to come over and have a look at the solar setup at our 2-family house on Winter Hill. You can see the full explanation at the link to our blog, and a photo of my house for way-finding.

Find us at festival booths:
The volunteers are having a great time meeting with our neighbors at our booths. Many residents have already researched solar and quickly understand the Solarize Somerville program benefits. Some are completely new to the idea and are pleased to hear that this is a city, state, and volunteer driven effort. Check our calendar on the Solarize site for specifics.
Next up:
Fluff Festival in Union Square, Saturday 9/24
AgriCultural Festival at ArtFarm, Saturday 10/1. Check this out--new festival this year: http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/artsunion/2016/agricultural
Save the date:
Tuesday 10/4: Solar Social at the Armory Cafe 6-8pm. Purely a social event to celebrate our progress, and thank the volunteers and early adopters. Cake! No powerpoints! We will chat about our ideas for the donated array that we will get if we reach 400kW of sign ups. The new graphic is over at the city homepage and the Solarize site and you can watch our progress each week.
