trinket box?

hi everyone -

my beloved little kitty passed away last week, and i'm expecting her ashes any day now. i'd like to put them in a beautiful little box, maybe the size of a trinket box. i checked the tiffany's website, and *choke* i cannot justify $1200 for something like that... plus, i'd rather find something locally, since she spent most of her life here. so, does anyone recommend any shops in the area that would sell something like this, or an artisan who makes something like this, that i could check out? my taste leans towards the sleek/mod/retro, but the box doesn't have to be... if it's beautiful, it's beautiful.

Maybe Pluto's? There's also that crafty shop under Helathworks in Porter (pricy, but compared to Tiffany's it's a bargain)

There's a store on Broadway in Ball that seems to be an artist shop--haven't been in yet, but they may have something like that. There's something similar in Harvard Square on Church St.

And sorry about the kitty--I still have the ashes of mine in a box, as I haven't found an appropriate container. I keep meaning to just take one of the wooden boxes from the craft store and painting it up in some way that'll remind me of her and putting them in there.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kittie. The place in Ball Square is called Blue Cloud Gallery. It's a great shop; I'm sure you can find something appropriate and wallet friendly there.

There's an artist named <a href="http://www.motzkin.com>Judy Motzkin</a> in Cambridge who makes urns. She works in ceramics, and her stuff is definitely not tacky, though I don't know what she charges or how small her urns get.

perhaps bob slates stationers - they have these marvelous, very tight fitting poplar boxes from poland - very nice - not too pricey - a few dabs of "gorilla glue" wiped around the edges before closing would seal them forever.

so sorry! I have an oldster calico cat and (shudder) I have wondered on occasion where I am going to bury her when she goes. Did Angell cremate your cat? I never thought of that (at all) but I don't want to bury my cat in some rented backyard.

angell was wonderful throgh the whole thing. they aren't cremating her, i guess there's an outside company or something who does it, and then they send the ashes to you in a little box.

i feel the same way you do... i just didn't want to put her in a cemetery and then move someday and have to leave her.
