 My favorite mechanic has closed shop.

Does anybody have a repair place convenient to Davis or Union that they would particularly recommend (or tell me to run away fast from)?

CarZone has been fairly good to me.

ABJ is still in business, as ABJ Hillside. Mike and two of the other original mechanics are, as Mike said, working until they can’t get into the building any more.

Edit: the new location is literally around the corner from the K-Mart end of the Assembly shops, so not far from the Assembly Orange Line station. I sometimes walk around all the Pokestops and gyms in Assembly Row while waiting for my oil change.

ABJ was booked through today, but CarZone was gracious enough to take a quick look at my car (test drive and up on the lift) to make sure it was just a squeaky strut, and not a matter for an expensive repair.

They also said that the squeak should go away when it cools off some because it's the expansion of metal that's making it not fit as well as it should.

So, they get points for not cooking up an expensive repair when they had a wide-eyed customer in their clutches.
