Somerville considering taking Armory under eminent domain

I'd never really thought about who owns it. I'd be really disappointed if the Saters made good on their plan to turn it into private manufacturing space.

I'd be gutted if the Armory was converted to office space!

On a side note: I live almost across the street from it, and honestly, I don't understand who's complaining about this supposed noise. I never hear anything from the Armory. The aged care facility across from it, on the other hand, is way noisier than you'd think...

My guess would be the neighbors immediately to the west, who would be best positioned to hear any noise spilling out of the café space. They've got soundproofing panels they put up in the windows when there's live music, but maybe it's not enough.

Or it might be unrelated to the actual activities, and there are just loud people coming in and out of the building in the morning or evening? Soundproofing wouldn't help there, of course.

I would hear if there were loud people just outside, though. I've lived in this house for 10 years and I think I remember hearing drunk people shouting once or twice? And I'm not even sure they came from the Armory.

Ooof. The Armory (Hall) would be a rather painful loss.
