hey everyone! the i thought would never happen has finally come!

bargain basement bistro -- issue #1 is done

info: it's 58 pages (half-size, 8.5"x5.5") plus front/back covers with original artwork. bargain basement bistro is a collection of recipes (nearly all my own with the exception of a few submissions from others) that can be prepared for less than $2/serving. all recipes are vegetarian (some include substitutions for meat versions) and some are vegan or vegan-adaptable. in addition to recipes it also includes: philosophy, suggested cooking music, a list of my favorite boston-area restaurants, resource list, random thrifty tips, food trivia, quotations about food & eating, nifty side-bar factoids and nutritional info. there are no inside illustrations, it's all text and very content heavy. printed on white stock with colored covers.

$3 in-person (i'll be at beantown zinetown saturday) or $4 mailed to you. right now i am selectively accepting trades (this is not meant to be snotty, but i'm just not much into the indie rock/punk scene and hence don't really have any use for those zines, nothing personal) but i am especially willing to trade for home-made crafty things (bath products, patches, etc.) rather than other zines.

to order, e-mail: bargainbasementbistro@yahoo.com or send a request + money (checks are fine) to: amy m. p.o. box 1410 boston ma 02117
please do not order by leaving a comment on this lj, i might not see it. i will post on my personal lj, as i send orders out so you can keep tabs. i work a block from a post office, so i expect orders to go out speedily (and via first class mail).

i can accept paypal. e-mail me at the above address requesting you want to pay that way and i'll send you my paypal info.

note to distro owners: i am *very* interested in being distro'd, drop me an e-mail at the above address and we can talk details.

I've been thinking about doing a print zine myself. Where did you get yours printed and what did it cost? I'm having a hard time coming up with an affordable printing means other than "hijack the Xerox at work"
