The Davis Square Task Force meets on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 pm at the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland Street.
This meeting will provide a venue for the business community, through the Davis Sq Business Interest Group, to join the Task Force in talking about the future of the Square.
Agenda:
7-7:10- Introductions
7:10-7:15- Background
Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz will present brief background on her meeting with the Davis Sq.
Business Interest Group and ideas from the last Task Force meeting about
future businesses in the Square (and update on meter rate changes)
7:15-8:15- Discussion about the Future of Davis Square
· Current vacant store fronts
How can we bring in more diverse stores and retail in particular? Invited
to attend is Livable Streets Alliance Executive Director, Jeff Rosenblum who
has expertise in what attracts retail and strategies for bringing it into
communities.
· Greg Palmer's idea about Davis Sq. Pride Campaign
· Carla DeLellis presents her ideas about engaging the business
community and residents in improving and revitalizing Davis:
o Flyer listing all that is in Davis/ Website advertising the Square
o Group advertising like Davis after Dark
o Press on happenings in the Square
o Davis Square logo/Fun ways businesses can work together re: family
event in the park, commuter bike relay race, arts and artists to the square
8:15-8:30- Open discussion about some of these ideas and implementation
8:30-8:50- Bike Path through Davis Sq.
Steve Winslow will talk about the plans that are getting underway to extend
the path.
