I live in Union and find it to be a great neighborhood with a true community feel. Neighbors talk to one another, and there are so many efforts to unite people (farmer's market, a neighborhood cleanup this past weekend *I think* sponsored by local businesses) etc. I've had no problems with vandalism or noise or anything like that.
