Hi! Anyone know a hairdresser anywhere in the Boston area, who is very good at cutting very recalcitrant hair-hair that's pretty curly, but not really, really curly (or thick)-I'm a pretty low-maintenance girl, and need a pretty low-maintenance haircut, while I let my hair grow.

i can't remember the name of the salon, but there's one in harvard square whose stylists were trained by ouidad, a curly-hair goddess. the only problem other than me being a shmuck and not knowing the name, is knowing that it's like a billion dollars for a cut. so in essence this post is useless.

if you're interested, i'll ask my roommate when she gets home, cuz she's the one that goes there. (i would but being unemployed doesn't lend itself to getting a haircut, however necessary it may be. ha.)

N.B. Take this with a whole pile of salt, as I haven't gotten my hair cut by anyone but myself in over a decade.

Evidently barber shops are a) cheap and b) will do low-maintenance haircuts for long-curly-haired men -- I see no reason why you couldn't find one that will cut yours. I'd ask around, as long as you really want a low-maintenance basic haircut that isn't terribly girl-only.

I've actually found a good person to cut my hair for a reasonable price ... on Newbury St. no less! Rogue at Salon Acote [132 Newbury] gave me one of my best cuts ever. She really understands curly hair [although she irons hers]. And she gave me tips that have made my hair less frizzy than w/Ouidad products and advice.

I've also found someone on newbury I really like - Maite at James Joseph Salon. I've been twice now (just as recently as last friday) and she's the first person who's actually been able to give me some SHAPE that isn't just a big frizzy triangle. She's $50 for a cut.
