I'm posting this cause I think it's important. Especially considering the recent shooting in East Somerville.
> The Somerville Women’s Commission invites you to come to Foss Park on August
> 9th to “Take Back the Greenspace”. Everyone deserves to feel safe in
> Somerville’s parks and open spaces. In the past year, several sexual
> assaults in the park have threatened women and girls’ comfort and safety in
> open spaces. We want you to join us as we acknowledge the pain of the
> survivors and also help to create safe spaces for all.
>
> The event will include speakers such as Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay and Jen Hill
> from Groundwork Somerville, safety demonstrations by Model Mugging, tables
> from local organizations with information both on safety and enjoying and
> enhancing open spaces, and reggae/blues music by Ken Selcer and Friends.
> The event will take place near the pool house in Foss Park from 4-7pm on
> Saturday August 9th. Foss Park is located between McGrath Highway and
> Broadway in East Somerville and is Accessible by MBTA Bus Routes #89, #95 &
> #101. Please join us.
>
> Co-sponsors include: Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Groundwork Somerville,
> RESPOND & Model Mugging
