Does anyone know where there is an off-leash dog park within the area? Ideally Somerville/Arlington and this way would be better. When i lived in CA we had dog parks everywhere! Yesterday I took my two dogs to the doggiefest and they absolutely loved the off-leash running area and the socializing with other dogs was great too.

Sheepfold in Medford is the king of all dog parks. It's part of the Middlesex Fells reservation.

Linear Path

A lot of dog owners meet up on the Linear Path, which you get to right behind the T station at Davis on Holland Street. It's not an official dog park, but there are often a bunch of dogs there.

If you're near Teale Square, there is a little lawn behind the church next to the French bilingual school where I throw a ball for my dog. I often see other dogs there.

Winchester Fells is a bit farther off, but it's a great place to take the dog.

Ok. I just whipped up a little Platial map (http://www.platial.com/tracy_the_astonishing/map/9849) of the spots (most of them unofficial for dogs, btw) where I take my dog to run. It's an open map, so if you have a good spot please add it. You can add by clicking "add to map," then zooming into the spot and clicking on the map to create a marker. You have to give the Place a title and then give the same title to your "Post." Then you can write anything you want about it.

The Somerville Dog website map is great, but it doesn't have anything near Davis.

where exactly is that? is that the big parkish type place near the wellington circle area....if so it isnt fenced in for off leash dog running though. if im wrong please tell me where to go :D

No, it's at the Middlesex Fells on the west side of 93 near the Northern part of Medford. It is a huge woods reservation, but they have a huge grass lawn dog park surrounded by woods. It's called Sheepfold. You can probably find a map somewhere online. It's hard to describe how to get to, but it's off of 28 near just minutes from 93.
