AAAHHHH!
I went to Nick's Roast Beef this afternoon, and it's been replaced! It's now a store called "Deli-Licous," or something like that. It looks pretty similar on the inside, and does seem to serve roast beef sandwiches under the heading "A Davis Square Rpast Beef Tradition Continues."
Is this just new ownership? Has Nick's moved? Help! I need my special sauce!
PS, it was closed when I went by.

Date: 2006-10-15 12:25 am (UTC)my co-workers report that this was the third owner since Nick died and his son Peter sold the place; they put up the "2 weeks' vacation" sign up a month ago. In our opinion, it'd been going downhill with each owner since Nick died, but that special sauce was something else. Nick had gotten several specialty ingredients each week, but the place had become a SYSCO Special around owner #2.
the Deli-icious menu looks bigger, and does promies roast beef as "a Davis Square tradition." They also had a sandwich called My Cousin Vinny - I haven't asked but in this town, it could be a reference to the movie, or ownership by the Li'l Vinny's/Vinnys at Night family, or both.
They had the sign up Thursday but haven't opened for business as of Saturday - we figured Monday.
