The city should paint them, or make the responsible party do so. No yellow lines on a busy, 2-way thru street like Summer transform SUVs from silly to downright dangerous.
Well, have you actually tried calling the city, or your elected representative?
I have found that my elected reps (for all that I badmouth them as a class) get things fixed, when it is brought to their attention by a constituent, if they can.
Didn't they just finish the repaving of most of Summer? I'm sure that repainting is also part of the plan, but I don't know what temperatures are required. Have you tried calling 311 and asking?
I think it's a little safer when there are no lines, since it makes people pay more attention to what they are doing. Admittedly, some motorists are just clueless and drive all over the road as a way to overcompensate for some low self esteem issues or something. But no little bit of paint is going to make much of a difference there :-)
I tend to think that the people who can't seem to wrap their minds around the fact that people being parked on the side of the road aren't an excuse to drive in the exact middle of the road are going to be an issue whether or not there are yellow lines there.
True. Of course, the people driving the other way need to understand that there is only parking on one side of the road, and so the "middle" isn't right on the crease down the center of the pavement.
yes, yes. If only that was what I've witnessed. Mostly I see people going almost all the way into the other lane to avoid the one guy who's parked on the side of the road.
