Verna's still open!

Verna's, on Mass Ave in North Cambridge, is still open and under new ownership, according to a sign on their door.  Same great people, same great coffee, and still the best donuts.  Hooray for small businesses not folding under pressure!

Is the cake decorating shop they had next door gone? :(

A couple of years ago I found He-Man and Mr. T chocolate molds there and made awesome soap using them. :)

I moved here riiiiight before they were supposed to have closed, and had a one-week love affair with those donuts. I'm glad they'll still be around. They're practically next door. May god grant me the willpower to resist having them every day on my way into town. :P

Verna's was purchased by Mr. Rich Brunet, Culinary Arts Teacher and Assistant Football Coach at Somerville High School. I predict that the business will flourish under his ownership, and probably grow. He intends to keep it the same at least for now, probably adding menu items in the future. Watch for this to be a great place to eat! You can read a small news item about it on the schools' web site: www.somerville.k12.ma.us.
