The City of Somerville and Waters Oldani Executive Recruitment Seek Community Input on Police Chief Selection Criteria

The City of Somerville has hired an Executive Recruitment consultant to assist in hiring a permanent Police Chief. Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and City of Somerville Personnel Director Richard Tranfaglia invite all interested residents and stakeholders to two Community Meetings on the Police Chief selection process. Community members will have the opportunity to meet with the recruitment consultant and members of the selection panel, and have a voice in the criteria that should be used throughout the selection process for the City’s next Chief of Police.

Both meetings will be held this Thursday, January 25, 2007. The first meeting will be at 3:00 p.m. at Somerville City Hall Aldermanic Chambers, 93 Highland Avenue. The second meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School, 115 Pearl Street.

For those unable to attend a community meeting on the 25th, we have posted an online survey on the City's website. A paper copy is available for download on the City's website at the same address in English, Spanish, Portuguese & Haitian-Creole, and copies are available by request by calling 311.

We will be accepting feedback on Chief Selection Criteria until Monday, February 5, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. Please submit comments and electronic or print surveys by that time for inclusion.
