Does anyone know of a Kosher butcher in either Davis, Ball, or Teele Square?

I've been eating more and more observantly for the past three years, and I have yet to find a closer source for kosher beef/lamb/etc. than Brookline. Kosher chicken is available at Star Market in Porter Square.

There aren't any Kosher butchers in Somerville. The Stop & Shop in Arlington has kosher chicken, and sometimes kosher turkey, in the freezer case. You can get there on the 77 bus (up Mass Ave.)

I didn't investigate closely, but I think there is a Halal butcher in Haymarket, which is at least T accessible. Perhaps there is a Kosher butcher too. There was a big sign, "Your goat fresh killed whole or half". :)

Also, Trader Joe's (Memorial Drive, Cambridge) carries two grades of kosher ground turkey, and chicken breasts (sometimes chicken in 1/8's, too).

And the market-that-used-to-be-Star (I forget what it is these days) in Copley sometimes carries kosher beef -- I've seen ground beef, steak, and london broil, at various times.

There's a Jewish market called the Butcherie on Harvard Street in Brookline that has a very wide selection of kosher meat, plus lots of other hard-to-find Jewish and Israeli supermarket products.

To get there by T, take the C line outbound, and get off at Coolidge Corner. If you're facing in the direction of the outbound trolley, start walking down Harvard St. to your right. Pass by the Coolidge Corner movie house and then Rami's kosher falafel on your left (or stop at Rami's for lunch... YUM!), and the Butcherie will be a little further down Harvard St. on your left, after passing the Israel Book Store.

There's also a bus direct from Harvard Square that drops you off almost in front of the Butcherie. I think it's the 66 (otherwise it's the 69).

I found kosher beef at the Porter star market recently too. It was in the section with the "organic" meat. I don't know how often they carry it -- I don't often eat beef.
