Clothing donations needed for costume project

hi all!

i'm the director/producer and general cat herder for a local band and performance troupe. we're working on costumes for our project, and i thought it would be worth asking the community at large if they could help out. if you can dig through your old clothes and ask your friends and family to do the same, we'd greatly appreciate it. we're mostly looking for men's clothing in any and all sizes.

if things are pretty worn out or beat up, all the better. if these can be subjected to our design whims, awesome! however if you have something that you think might work, but want it untouched (and returned), then we can work with that too. please get in touch to arrange pick up or drop off.

here's what we're looking for:

military and marching band uniforms,
jackets (suit/tuxedo/frock coat/uniforms/etc),
vests,
dress pants and shirts,
hats (bowlers/top hats/helmets/etc)
suspenders,
ties (all kinds),
sashes,
cummerbunds,
patches or pins (weird designs, insignias and such)

How long would these be needed and what are they for? I do costumes for a community theatre in the area and might be able to arrange a loan with the understanding that they cannot be altered in any way and that they'd be back to us in a reasonable time frame.

We'd also love to know that you could scratch our backs, sometime, if we scratch yours! ;)

It wouldn't be free, but I got an email from Garment District last week that said they had just bought a giant lot of tuxedos, so many that they couldn't pu them all out on the floor at once. Might be a good backup plan.

preferably, i'd like to get them some time this week and we'd be done with them after our performance on April 29th. ideally, we are looking for stuff that the band can use long term, but we'd be happy to make use of what we can for this big performance.

also, we'd be happy to reciprocate in whatever way we could.

I'll ask my peeps and see what might be doable.

If I can convince the powers that be, we would be able to lend:

military jackets (3)

jackets (suit/tuxedo/frock coat/uniforms/etc), (lots to choose from)

dress pants and shirts, (a few, though you'd probably be better off just getting some for yourselves at Goodwill so you'd have them forever)

suspenders, (i think we have two pairs, but again, goodwill would be a good place to try)

What's ours is yours! Are you available tomorrow night (Wednesday) to come by First Church of Somerville on College Ave to check out what we've got? Looks like it would need to be 7pm or later. We could probably finagle Thursday, if needed.

gah! sorry i neglected to get back to yesterday, but i was unable to meet up, which is also the case today. would saturday be an option? if not, any time next week?
