preliminary special election tomorrow

so there's this preliminary special election tomorrow for alderman-at-large. does anybody know anything about any of the candidates (that i can't just find on their website)?

Here's some previous discussion of the subject.

I'm voting for Marty Martinez, mostly because he's endorsed by Denise Provost and Bill White. (The election is to fill the vacancy caused by Denise's resignation.) The board of aldermen need some strong voices who are willing to challenge the Mayor when necessary. Marty is more likely than Jack to do so. I know very little about the third candidate, Robert Daut.

According to the globe article posted earlier, Connolly doesn't have the best interests of the young Davis binge drinker in mind. So I'm not voting for him.

The third guy (Robert Daut) has a web site that has so little information I feel like I know less about him after looking at it than I did when all I knew was what I got from the campaign sign stuck up at the house on the corner of my street and Holland.

The Somerville Journal piece is kind of fluffy -- he's concerned about "development" and "quality of life". (Presumably, he's for the latter; it's unclear what his stance is on the former, other than concerned.) And there's a great politician-quote about how we "have to focus on how we can focus on" ways to reduce the property tax "burden". Education and old people get a name check. Anybody know anything substantial about this guy?

I don't get it either. If you're going to run against two people as well-known as Jack and Marty, you need a very distinctive set of positions and issues. Daut hasn't gotten these across effectively, if at all.
