Good oral surgeon?

I'm looking for a good oral surgeon to remove my wisdom teeth. Since this is, by all accounts, a potentially nasty experience, I'd like to find someone who is both a good surgeon and has a nice bedchairside manner. Sadly, Dr Cook does not remove wisdom teeth. :(

Any recs?

ETA: After all the resounding praise, I made an appointment for Friday at the place on Mass Ave - now I remember Dr Cook recommending them. Will let you all know how it went!

I am a diehard Doc Cook fan myself, and he once referred me to a great oral surgeon to do some work for me. The guy who did my work was Dr. Derkazarian in Porter Square - I think it's a father/son team and the younger fellow did my periodontal work and was very nice. (The elder Derkazarian is the president of the MA Dental Society, so he's probably pretty top notch himself). I'm not 100% on whether that office offers the kind of work you need done, but I would recommend giving them a ring.

Dr. Lechtenberg, who is on Mass. Ave north of Porter just off of Day Street. He is awesome. He removed my wisdom teeth, called in the evening to check in and was overall a great oral surgeon.

I had a very good experience with the Oral Surgeon at Gentle Dental in Porter Sq. All four removed at once, 2 impacted, 2 somewhat impacted, no swelling or bruising after. The doctor even called that evening to make sure I was ok.

Dr Cook recommended me to an oral surgeon on Mass Ave not far from Davis but I don't remember the name of the particular place/doctor.

I had all 4 out at once under nitrous and it wasn't that bad an experience for me, but then none of mine were impacted. I think the nitrous made the difference between it really sucking and it just being annoying.

Seconded; the place is Commonwealth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, and was as good an experience as getting one's wisdom teeth out can be, overall.

I also have had good experiences with the oral surgeon at Gentle Dental in Porter (whose name escapes me at the moment). If you're spending your own money, I'd recommend going to either Harvard's (http://www.harvarddentalcenter.harvard.edu/asp-html/teaching-practice.html) or Tufts' (http://www.tufts.edu/dental/patient/index.html) Dental School Clinic. I had one wisdom tooth out at each, several years ago; neither was any worse than any other dental experience. One of the extractions was actually quite complicated; they did their best to make me comfortable, and a very experienced faculty member was right there with the student dentist throughout the procedure. All things considered, I'm glad I had it done there rather than at a dentist's office.

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Marc Kahn, who works in Needham MA. A bit of a hike, but myself and everyone I've reccomended to him have no complaints and in my case my teeth were pretty messed up and difficult to remove. Also, if you ask, he will give you your teeth when he's done.

Like many others, I went to Commonwealth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates as recommended by Dr. Cook, but I saw Dr. Claude (?) Fontaine. His bedside manner was reasonable and he did a nice job removing all of my wisdom teeth in one sitting.

I third/fourth/fifth Commonwealth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates. Dr. Feldman was GREAT and made me feel really at ease. Dr. Cook refers to them, and since he might be the Second Coming, I would follow what he says.

Thirded. I needed a complicated tooth extraction (with sawing into pieces and stuff) and he did a great job.
