New Art Exhibit at Magpie
May. 27th, 2007 12:22 pmWe are starting a new art exhibit Magpie today called "Modern Ornithology" featuring one of our favorite artists, Ryan O'Rourke. Ryan's grandfather builds birdhouses and Ryan paints them. They are too beautiful for words to describe! If you come from 2:00 - 5:00 today you can grab some snackage and meet the artist.

We are thrilled to have Ryan O'Rourke, one of our favorite artists, showing a brand-new collection of his fantastic, whimsical hand-painted birdhouses and other bird-inspired works. Come to Magpie in Davis Square Sunday afternoon for the opening from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. We'll be having bird-themed refreshments, music, and a 10% sale on everything bird-themed. You can meet the artist, grab a snack, and see some terrific new artwork.
ABOUT RYAN
From his grandfather's enormous birdhouse collection to his mother whistling back and forth to the bird's in his parent's backyard, Ryan O'Rourke grew up around people with a keen appreciation for ornithology. Although he does not share the same interest in birds, he does love to draw them. In 2004, Ryan and his grandfather David Howard started teaming up to create decorative, hand-crafted, hand-painted birdhouses.
Ryan O'Rourke has been doing freelance illustration since 2001. His drawings have appeared in The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Hartford Courant, L.A. Weekly, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Boston Magazine, and many other publications. His work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, SILA, RSVP, and the Connecticut Art Director's Club. He is also an adjunct professor in the Visual Communications Design department at The Hartford Art School. Ryan O'Rourke.
