Carpet cleaning - cigarette smells

I'm looking for a recommendation for a carpet cleaning company that can get out cigarette smells.  Or is this impossible and do I have to just replace the carpet?  Hoping to try the cleaning route first.

try setting aside bowls (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bowl+vinegar+smoke+room+odor&btnG=Search) of vinegar in the room. as i understand it, the vinegar absorbs the odor. it actually works quite well.

FYI: your room will smell like vinegar for a while after, this is only temporary.

I doubt if there is one carpet cleaning company that can get out the smells while the rest can't. If one company can get it out, then probably they all can and it probably doesn't matter too much which one you pick. They can steam clean the carpet, spot treat and use deoderizor. This will likely work. I suggest you call some cleaning places and ask them about it.
