Does anyone know if movies in the park are happening this summer? I googled around but didn't find anything except an announcement for 2004's movie schedule. Maybe they just haven't announced it yet...?
Wow-such a great thing! I never knew about it. What movies do they usually show? I love the Hatchshell classical thing on Wednesdays is it? That is a lot of fun as well with wine and friends.
Free Thursday Backyard Movies at Boloco The Thursday Night backyard movie that was to be held in the alley of Willoughby and Baltic has been moved to the parking lot of Boloco (next door) on Elm Street in Davis Square. This week's movie is scheduled to be a collection by the Brother's Quay.
Come to Willoughby and Baltic from 6-8 pm for the opening reception of the latest show of prints collected by Thomas Prince. Meet our new curator and find out about our exciting plans for the summer, including outdoor music, puppets, films, art exhibits, and much more. We also have coupons for deals from Boloco, Benjapon's and Subway. Head over to Boloco at sundown (around 8:30) for the movies.
You are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs, etc. We will have some seating available, but you might want to bring your own. Boloco will be open until at least 10 o'clock if you are hungry.
We are always on the lookout for musical acts to perform before the movies on Thursdays, so if you are interested, drop us an email at infoATwilloughbybalticDOTcom.
We will announce next week's movie at the conclusion of this week's film.
Willoughby and Baltic would like to thank Sal at Boloco, Benjapon at Benjapon's and Sunil at Subway for their continued support.
In the event of rain, this film will be postponed one week.
I don't think so... this doesn't sound like the one that Somerville puts on. The ones I'm thinking of usually take place in the park behind the T stop.
No, he means the movies (really DVDs) that the Mayor's office arranged to show in various parks around Somerville during past summers. Some of them were in Seven Hills Park behind the T station.
I only caught the tail end of last year's, but the final film was "Casablanca." I don't know if that's indicative of the series overall, but that's one example.
And hey, I don't think the Brothers Quay sounds lame at all!
Maybe it's not lame, I'm just thinking about trying to see a movie in a parking lot. I would feel much more comfortable seeing it on the grass in the park.
Movies are Thursday evenings at dusk in parks across Somerville - but most play in Seven Hills Park in Davis Square. I can tell you for sure the first three movies will be:
July 5th: Just Like Heaven, Seven Hills Park July 12th: To Kill A Mockingbird, Seven Hills Park July 19th: Mean Girls, Seven Hills Park
We'll have the whole lineup posted on a "Summertime in Somerville" link on the homepage (www.ci.somerville.ma.us) shortly.

I hope whoever's picking the movies remembers that last year the best attended movie, by far, was the muppet movie, followed by a few other movies for kids. The city seems committed to keep the schedule varied with noir and other adult fare that I love but can't bring my child to, and hardly anybody else comes either... they really should look at what works.
Thanks. Looks like the Viewer's Choice is between four films. Three of them are Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sleepless in Seattle, and Citizen Kane, but I can't quite read the top left one.
