Hi!

Three young, responsible, alternative types are seeking an apartment as close to Davis Square as possible for Sept. 1.

The following criteria are necessities:
-3 bedrooms, or 2 bedrooms with extra common space of some kind
-Laundry in building, or laundry hookups
-Some outdoor space - deck or yard
-Reasonable walking distance (15-20 minutes or less) to Davis, Porter, Harvard, Alewife or Kendall T

These things would be excellent plusses:
-Dishwasher
-Hardwood floors
-Offstreet parking
-Pantry space
-Storage space
-First floor or first/second floor
-Pets okay (we currently have no pets)

It fails in one major way, being in East Arlington and all, and one small way, being on the second and third floors, but we are leaving our current appartment and it is huge!

Anyway, it has three bedrooms up stiars and four rooms downstiars (living room, dining room, kitchen, and a little annex room), off street parking for two cars, laundry in the apartment, a small yard and two porches, and the closest are large in the bed rooms.

It is in East Arlington, though all of my friends who live here still think of Davis as their home square.

I don't know how far it is to Alewife, honestly. We are between B'way and Mass Ave near the Capital. I know my husband walks from Davis at night after the 87 stops running to Arlington Center and I takes him about 45min.

It would be about ... 15 minutes on a bike on the bike path to Alewife, if I'm judging correctly. Depending on speed, of course. It's about 10 minutes from the Arlington Center break in the bike path to Alewife at a meander (like 6-8 MPH). I can do Arlington Heights to my place in 15-20 if I book it (like 12ish MPH, more time on the return trip because it's uphill).

All of this depends on a bike, of course, but I have little idea how I would drive there. Probably hop on 2 from Arlington Center to Alewife, which is, what, one exit?

Just some context, since I'm in and out of Arlington, erm, a lot. Parenthetically, living near the capital would be teh roxxors!

my apartment fits all of these standards (well, most of them- see below), and is $1650 currently.

we're top floor, but it's not terrible going up and down, the stairs are easy. we've got laundry in the kitchen, two good sized bedrooms and a large livingroom (all with doors). a separate kitchen and bathroom, with good light in all rooms. it's a quiet street in a safe neighborhood, roughly a ten minute walk to davis off the bike path (depending on how fast you walk, that is), and five minutes to ball square.

the livingroom (which i use as a bedroom) has a walk-in closet, there are two other roomy closets in the other rooms, and there's a pantry in the kitchen with a door. all hardwood floors, and a nice porch out front.

we're moving out august 15th as far as i know, so i can refer you to the landlord if you're interested.

after the first of august, the landlord is going to have people come by and see it, but i'll let him know about your interest, and hopefully something can be worked out for you beforehand.

it could actually be made into three, two of the rooms are the same size, and one is a little bigger. other than those, there's the kitchen, which is a good size, and would have a door, but just has a doorframe.

Hrrrrmmm...if I 1) had a bike and 2) trusted myself not to get killed riding one, this might make a considerable difference. (You sturdy bike people make me so envious sometimes...!) Seriously, though, it might work - and as I recall, bus service from Arlington is pretty sweet (unlike, say, Union Square, which while it has many buses serving it, doesn't seem to have any that, like, actually arrive anything like on time...).
