Does anyone know who owns a red Ford Explorer with Virginia plates parked in front of 7 Albion? It's been parked there for two days, despite the fact that I've had a "no parking" sign posted there since Friday, and I need it gone by tomorrow so that I can fit the moving van in the space.

Can't the cops just tow it? I mean, if it's not gone by tomorrow. Those signs threaten towing, don't they?

they do. I'd just rather avoid towing it if I can..

When I've been in this situation, and eventually called the cops, the cops look up the car's registration and attempt to call the owner before resorting to towing. Both times this has happened to me, that worked and no towing was necessary.

Don't they have to be somewhat official signs? If it's not a city designated tow zone to begin with - i.e. a permit parking or meter parking or xx amount of hours parking only area, then it may not matter.

It's nice that she would rather not tow it if she can help it though.

unfortunately, this is VA plates, and a neighbor mentioned that, although she doesn't know who owns the car, once it's parked it stays there for a few days. I thought about that as well.

It looks like things might work out after all, though - the space behind the house was taken by my mom, and I might be able to just block my own driveway - I'm the only car in it.

So what finally happened?

Well, it finally got moved when I went to get the SECOND truckload of stuff. I was fortunate enough that there was enough room behind him that I could just block my own driveway with the truck while I was packing it up.

The most annoying part of it was that I wasn't the only one moving; there were three apartments besides mine moving that day.
