Yeah, that's how I first found out they were open on Saturdays. But the guy said they tend to be somewhat flexible with the hours, and the real indicator is that large sandwich board they put out by the street.
Just to add info for folks who find this post in the future: jack's Gas is on Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge, on the right side of the street as you drive towards Arlington, a few blocks before Route 16. They also have some of the lowest gas prices around.
And when I was there getting my inspection (in and out quickly!), I saw Jack himself, and he was in his very well-worn mechanics uniform, and talking on the phone about arranging to go antiquing that weekend. And I thought that was just awesome in a Cambridge sort of way. :)
I boycott Jack's gas since I took my car there for an estimate for a few things that were wrong. They promised to call me before doing any repairs so I could decide what I wanted to fix and what to wait on. Instead they did all the repairs without my consent, leaving me with no option but to pay the bill - as they said they would charge me for every night my car sit there, if I refused to pay. I should have sued, but frankly had no money during grad school to even consider it. Basically, F Jack's Gas.
