Oct. 4th, 2007 11:10 amHello Davis Square!
I have a kind of dental emergency (boo) and would really like to see a dentist, however I do not have any sort of dental coverage. Is there any particular dentist in the area that is better to go to for the uninsured?
Or just any dentist suggestions in general?
I understand this may come as a great cost to me, and I accept that. I am just looking to see what my options may be.

Date: 2007-10-04 04:01 pm (UTC)Note, you can only get seen on an emergency basis if you are in pain. And you can't call to get an emergency appointment. Just show up bright and early in the morning (before 7:30, is best if I remember correctly) and wait. They have a second session in the afternoon, but the waiting list for that usually fills up by 10 am I think, by the people who didn't show up at 7am.
It's in Boston, near South Station and the Theater District, by the way.

Date: 2007-10-04 06:41 pm (UTC)It would be very rare for a dentist not to see you because you don't have insurance. You might have to provide a credit card to show your ability to pay, though.
I'd have to multiple the concerns about Gentle Dental in Porter Square. I had more problems after I went than I did before.

avoid gentle dental

Re: avoid gentle dental
Date: 2007-10-10 02:20 am (UTC)I'm not super fond of getting work done by the "students," so I opt to get treated by the faculty. It's only slightly more expensive ($75 filling vs. $95 filling, about) and the faculty is able to treat more than one tooth at a time, if need arises for that. If it's something more complex, like a root canal, it's still half the price of a "regular" dentist.
I also had a terrible needle phobia, and they were awesome at working me through that.
