Does any one know if a snow emergency was called today in Somerville?

Thank you!

There's not a snow emergency notice on the city Web site (look for small scrolling text at the very top), and the predicted snowfall is under four inches, so I'd say "no".

Last time we had a snow emergency, it was posted on the city website, http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/. I don't see any notification there today.

Also, after all the flack the city took after declaring the emergency for the eventually-nonexistant storm two weeks ago, I think they'll hold off for anything but a blizzard now.

Oh, no...see, this time, it's actually snowing.
Somerville only declares snow emergencies when there's no snow.

That's why just for the heck of it, I moved my car to the correct side of the street before I left today. I can't afford to be ticketed and towed, so I have to stay ahead of them. Usually, I just park on the odd side of the street all winter long, so I don't have to think about where my car is.

That's because Our Dear Mayor is very tricksy and likes to keep his constituents on their toes. I bet he'd call a snow emergency in July and enforce the tickets now that his benevolent "one-time reprieve" has been granted.

"We just said that four inches of snow needed to be predicted to justify a snow emergency---We didn't say where!!"

Very tricksy! Have you ever considered a career in city politics?

then he'd be busy every weeknight going to town meetings, and spend enough of his weekends doing PR stuff that we'd never get to hang out with him anymore.

I actually did write in [livejournal.com profile] bester for mayor in the elections this last time, because I hated both candidates, and I thought he'd do a better job. :)
