Can anyone recommend a good tailor in Davis Square. I primarily need someone to just hem things but do need something a little more in-depth once in a while. Some place open until at least 6pm would be ideal. Thanks!
I go to Elegant Tailor, between Porter and Harvard on Mass Ave, near the Lizard Lounge.
They work wonders - the woman there put a new lining in a skirt, and it was very reasonable. She's also taken in the waists of at least a dozen of my skirts. They're open til 6:30 during the week and until 5 I think on Saturday.
Good to know! I recently lost 30lbs so I have tons of clothes that no longer fit and I've been trying to decide whether or not I wanted to go to the expense of having a few of my favorites taken in. And of course anything new I buy has to be hemmed. Thanks for the recommendation!
ooh, do you have a recommendation for a good jeweler? My fave fab necklace broke and I am at a loss, even thinking about taking it to Shreve Crump & Lowe downtown, where i'm sure it would cost less for me to dive into the ocean, find the pearls, and make myself a new necklace, than get it fixed there.
Florin Ghita, at 333 Washington Street, Room 516 (5th floor - this is the Jewlery Building), Downtown Crossing T. His number is 617-742-2398.
He's wonderful. The nicest guy, both him and his son, and they remember you and they'll tell you when things are too much or not right...they're just nice, decent, honest craftsmen.
If you tell them you heard about them from Coco, they'll remember me...

They also do dry cleaning there.
They're excellent!
