So . . . I've on occasion been able to find Moxie around here, but I haven't been able to find Nehi or Clearly Canadian. Does anyone know any place around here I could get either of these?
Clearly Canadian was widely available in the early 90s. Nehi, not so much. It's manufactured by one smallish plant in Florida, and I've never seen it north of Tennessee.
You can get it online at eintown.com though.
Moxie is everywhere around here. Both Shaw's and Market Basket stock it. They used to sell it at the Liquor Store Formerly Known As The Bargain Spot, and may still do so. (http://www.eintown.com/display.cfm?category=FoodDrinks&qname=food&word=Nehi)
I seem to remember getting some Clearly Canadian at the Indian "We Sell Irish Food" bodega style place on Elm - the bottles are designed differently than I remember. Also, it was diet grapefruit and was terrible. Also, there's a slight chance I'm remembering incorrectly - but it might be worth a look in there.
On aki's note, I seem to remember some Clearly Canadian at LaVerde's, the mini grocery store in the MIT student center that at one point claimed to have [some qualifier] largest selection of cold beverages.
Motown Guy's going to piggyback on this thread for a sec, and ask if anyone's seen Vernors anywhere in town. Hi-Rise Bakery used to stock it when they first opened, but last time I was in there, alas, none.
(But what I'd really like is some Faygo Redpop...)
Oh man, the Trickettes would seriously dig that. I think a road trip may be in order.
I wonder if my in-laws can find Faygo in Buffalo? Vernors is available there, and I always grab a couple of cases whenever we're in town.
I'll bet they could find Redpop somewhere in Buffalo. After we left MI, I could occasionally find it all the way down in Florida, though often I could only find the diet variety.
Sidenote: My mom calls all varieties of ginger ale "Vernors." Cute!
I've seen Clearly Canadian around lots of places in Boston recently. I think it's making a comeback, now in new plastic bottles. Don't ask me the names of the places, though, that I'd be no good at remembering. :)
I had it at DeCordova in September, though! I remember that much!
I see Vernors various places, but since I don't drink it, I am only relying on fragments of visual memory. Did you try Pemberton Farms? I seem to recall seeing it there. Or the Fresh Pond Market on Huron Avenue?
Re: flying - there has be some sort of establishment at Metro (Airport, Detroit) that sells Vernors, Faygo, and other treats for displaced Michiganders...
i have definitely bought clearly canadian from many different stop&shop's in the past years. from what i remember is that they were always on the top shelf near the snapples.
