Following the discussion about Google Streetview vs. privacy, some may be interested in the haha brouing over at the Villeside Journal site.   One of the intrepid reporters took a video camera to the Tufts Naked Quad Run and posted it on Youtube.   Drunk streakers were not amused.

they were meant specifically to humiliate the participants.

The only thing unique about this is the website where it's located. Hell, they probably got the video from some Tufts student's Myspace.

If you see my comment way down low, there is a much more public and humiliating page depicting last year's events.

I'm not sure how this video which, unlike the link I found, shows no faces or frontal nudity was meant to specifically humiliate anyone. And how in the world can one who willingly strips and runs around naked consider this humiliating to begin with?

Through the same sense of entitlement that allows them to BEG the university to adopt a speech code (http://www.thefire.org/index.php/codes/762) that prevents "offensive speech".

Damn. It makes total sense now.

I forget that we're talking about students who wish for nothing more than to squash freedom of speech and freedom of the press like a bug.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

But only for everyone ELSE.

Few people want to enact a law to prevent something that offends them, that THEY do.

Oh, well, yes. That particular corollary was fully understood though unwritten at the time though.

I think it NEEDS to be said, and written, regularly, where all the whiny college students can read it.

Because they CLAIM to be free speech absolutists, when in reality, they are EXACTLY like the religious right about which they so vociferously bitch.

Like was stated here (http://adjectiveanimal.com/journal/2007/12/15/nuditygate-2007-innocent-students-in-the-crossfire/).

I have taught my students at the university personal responsibility.

Their response to this issue: if they are outraged that someone shot video, they shouldn't have done the run.
If they are surprised that someone shot video, they should be kicked out of school, because they obviously aren't smart enough to pour piss out of a boot.

I wholeheartedly agree. I find it sadly ironic that those who claim to be all for freedom and diversity are also the same ones who would censor our very thoughts and ensure that we don't live our lives to any other standard but their own.
