Privacy for naked drunkards
Dec. 12th, 2007 12:32 pmFollowing the discussion about Google Streetview vs. privacy, some may be interested in the haha brouing over at the Villeside Journal site. One of the intrepid reporters took a video camera to the Tufts Naked Quad Run and posted it on Youtube. Drunk streakers were not amused.

Date: 2007-12-13 03:35 am (UTC)You can't even use "tradition" as an excuse; unless I've really missed something here, all of these runners were volunteers. Think about this, would being told "It's a tradition, don't be a buzzkill" be enough for YOU to get naked, in December, in New England, and jog a few laps?
De-stress, maybe, because undeniably it's a laugh. But you can't pretend there isn't at least some of the "Hey, lookit me!" factor here. I'm not saying this is a BAD thing, mind you; again, everyone likes a little attention. Just that for most, if not all, that it was definitely a motive.

Date: 2007-12-13 04:50 am (UTC)We'll have to agree to disagree on this, I'm afraid. As for campuses being insulated communities: maybe psychologically, but they exist in physical spaces and it's not like Tufts (or any campus I've been to, for that matter) has this enormous wall with armed guards. Put it to you another way: it's not JUST theirs, and to assume otherwise is, again, foolish.
