New Year, New Moderator

After a very long and enjoyable run as a moderator of the davis_square community, the time has come for me to pass the baton. I'm on the job market and don't expect to have as much free computer time at my new job. I'm happy to let you know that prunesnprisms will be taking my Moderator place as of later today. I want to thank everyone who participates in this community for helping it become as active and useful as it is today. I'll still be around as a contributing member.

prunesnprisms joins ron_newman, cos and surrealestate in community moderation. One item of note that never got proper mention is that surrealestate's username used to be "pheromone." She has changed it, but she's still the same Mod who you know and love.

Welcome! I have now officially added you to the maintainers list (and, with considerable regret, removed plumtreeblossom).

This also gives you access to the Manage Tags page, which lets you do things like rename tags and delete unused ones.

LJ e-mailed me to tell me I had been removed as Mod. So sad! But it was time for change, and I think prunesnprisms will do a great job.

Ron has done the lion's share since coming on board -- he was born to be a community moderator. Between all of them, they'll keep things running smoothly.

Mostly what I've done here is organize tagging. The main things left to do are to rework the local food/restaurants/dining categories, and to announce some vaguely official guidelines on how to tag future posts.

I'd really love to find a way to continue encourage tagging - maybe an LJ post dated 2010 or whatever that always floats at the top with community guidelines or something?

Might be a good idea, though it would need to be very heavily LJ-cut to avoid annoying people like me who read the community directly rather than through the friends page. I don't actually know how to do it.

Months ago I posted this first-draft list of tagging guidelines. But, as you can see, it needs a lot of work, it's already out of date, and nobody commented on it at the time.
