Russians around Davis Square

Hi. I recently moved to the Davis Sq. area. I'm a native English speaker, but I'm interested in practicing my Russian with people in the area. I was thinking of a setup like this:

- We meet at a cafe or bar
- We chat in Russian for an hour or so, hopefully helping me out as we go along
- I pay for the food and drinks

I've taken four years of university instruction, but sadly haven't been to Russia, so my skill level is somewhere between intermediate and advanced.

If you speak Russian at a near-fluent or fluent level and are interested, let me know (in the comments, or email afader at gmail).

You might try posting this at a university. A number of years ago, I was looking for someone to practice Japanese with me, and I put up a posting at MIT. I had way too many responses, but I made a couple of life-long friends. Also people at universities are always looking for free food and drinks.

Try asking at Tufts! I know of a small group of Russian speakers because I see them around some of the shops I frequent and I suspect they are grad students there.

I'd certainly be interested. I moved out of Russian two million years ago, when I was 5, but maintained fluency, and am always looking for people to practice with. I am leaving for a work related trip tomorrow, and won't be back for all intents and purposes until the following Tuesday. Will e-mail you when I am back.

You and afader might be interested in the Boston-Cambridge Russian Language Meetup Group. We're having a meetup this Thursday evening, the 17th, at the Harvard Square Au Bon Pain. This is the link for the group,

you might try the Boston/Cambridge Russian Language Meetup (http://russian.meetup.com/306/?gj=sj5). If they operate at all like the French group, you'll have a cafe full of people to converse with.
