davis_squareThe Somerville Chamber of Commerce is holding a benefit tomorrow (Thursday, 1/17) for the children and teachers of the East Somerville Community School, which burned down last month.
The event is from 6 to 9 pm at the Holiday Inn, 30 Washington Street (at Inner Belt Road, near Sullivan Square). Suggested donation is $25, but please give more if you can afford it. There will be a free appetizer buffet, and live entertainment by bands called 'Elated' and 'Blues States'.
If you can't come to the event but would like to contribute, bring a check payable to "Somerville Public Schools" to any branch of Winter Hill Bank. A donation of $550 will provide school supplies for an entire class.
Yes, this is in East Somerville, but children from every ward attend this school -- especially the two-way bilingual Unidos program.
