I wish to learn how to draw. Not in the spaghetti-western-pistoles-at-high-noon style, but more in the making cool shapes with a charcoal pencil and paper style. I am a total beginner.

Any suggestions on where I could learn to do such a thing around here? Or alternately, any of you fine people make a habit of teaching drawing?

Well, I have an art degree and am currently unemployed. I'd give you lessons if you had a place to meet that I could get to via public transportation and would pay me a sum per lesson that we could work out in private, plus pay for your own materials.

Check out the Cambridge Center for Adult Education (other towns have similar things, but the CCAE is really close). They probably have some really basic drawing classes.

Yeah, I second CCAE. They have their regular program of art stuff (http://www.ccae.org/catalog/courses/?time=3&id=1), and what seems to be a slightly more serious one (http://www.ccaestudioschool.org/program.html).

I know there's a small school in Medford Square that offers drawing classes. I'm not sure what they offer, but I know someone who went there several years ago and was pleased. Sorry but I'm drawing a blank on the name, but I do know that it's above Papa Gino's (which may be gone now, but it's right in the center of the square).

Hi there,
I teach drawing in Davis Square, and it the next class starts on Feb. 20th and runs for 5 weeks. You can see more info on my profile. It's a very small class (limited to ten) and I have a lot of experience teaching. Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you sign up! :)
