If you live in Ward Seven, or if you have a Zone 1 parking permit (which, I guess may apply to people in other wards) don't forget to put your new resident parking sticker on your car.

On my drive this morning, I saw DOZENS of bright orange pieces of paper staring back at me on cars with the old sticker. The city is not giving any leniency in this matter, near as I can tell.

I just swapped out my sticker. Is it the cold that makes the old ones so hard to remove? The thing was adhered like barnacle.

For what it's worth, I got bagged on two cars last year - 8am on the morning of the new stickers. I threw myself on the mercy of the appeals guy at Traffic & Parking, and he tossed them both.

Can someone point me to anything other than anecdotal evidence that specific wards or neighborhood have their own specific numbered stickers vs they get renewed one year after you get them and the number is the month of renewal?

I live in Ward 6, and my sticker has a 2, which means I need to renew in February. The stickers always expire in February if you live in my neighborhood.

I know because I bought a new car in November. The sticker was only good until February. It was not good for an entire year.

The Somerville Parking Permits are notoriously hard to remove. And, yes, the cold makes it even harder. I usually use a razor blade and it works pretty well. If you're parked near your house where you can run an extension, a blow dryer will take it right off completely! Bumper stickers, too, by the way. I've even removed bumper stickers from one car this way andplaced them on my new(er) car - good as new!

It shouldn't be too hard to cook up our own list of which part of town has which sticker. While we don't know if they correspond to wards or not ( I wouldn't be shocked if the business district around Davis is its own zone ), it might make a good starting point esp. for those who dont want to give their exact street.

Here's what i've been able to find under the threaded comments. And it looks like you keep the same number sticker if you move across town:

Ward 7: 1, A
Ward 6: 8, Z
Ward 2/Inman: 6

I brought my car to Somerville in October. My permit expires in March, as do the permits of everyone else in my building...
