Does anyone know offhand whether there are any emissions inspections stations around that are open on Sundays? *facepalm*

d'oh! I went to the Sunoco down Broadway, across from Trum field, yesterday. They were talking like they're open seven days a week, but I wasn't convinced. Their number: (781) 396-0265.

Rumor has it Ball Square Auto Repair has temporarily lost their license to inspect, but I haven't substantiated this. Too bad, because it's right up the street from me.

Jack's Gas on Massachusetts Avenue, a couple of blocks before you hit Alewife Brook pkwy, is really good. Not only did they inspect my car, but they gave me a prognosis for what work I'd need in the next year, and told me what work wouldn't be worth investing in a car as old as mine was. Honest, really professional, and you can actually talk to the guy whose name is on the sign.

I have to give a thumbs down to Jacks Gas. I took my car there knowing that there were several things that needed to be fixed, however not all of them were urgent. They were going to call me with an estimate of what it would be to fix each thing, and then I would decide what I wanted to fix. This was mutually agreed upon, instead of calling me they fixed all the things and then called me to tell me my car was ready. I was no doubt pissed. I talked to the manager who said one of his guys got confused but if I didn't pay they would hold my car for 75$ a day charge until I picked it up.

I actively boycott them, their gas station and encourage others to do so as well. I did put in a report with the BBB, who said they couldn't do anything.

I also had a NEGATIVE experience with them. I now refer to them as "JacksA$$".

My s/o is a mechanic and Sunday is the only day they have off. Even grease monkeys have to rest sometime.

Pfft. 6 days a week is more than enough time to get your car fixed/inspected. Sundays are for drinking.

But really, it's not worth it to most shops given that these days, they're slower than dogshit anyway.

I get 3 days off a month. They're all Sundays.

I go shopping and do laundry. My smoggy needs are covered by aforementioned s/o, usually after we both get off of work during the week, when he can use the lift at the shop.
