Howdy Davis Square,

With the help of Somerville Community Access TV, I produce an occasional television show and podcast called The Gameshelf, about unusual games of various sorts. I'm hoping to make another three or four episodes this year, and I'm looking to expand my talent pool outside of just the local gamers I happen to already know. I've published a casting call page on the show's website describing who I'm looking for and how they can contact me.

As that page notes, the show's current format involves interleaving the hosts discussing a game with clips of folks playing it. We usually film these clips at the SCAT studio in Union Square, and their production is seldom more complicated than sitting the game-players down and pointing cameras at them while they play and chat. You can get an idea of the final output by watching either of our most recent couple of episodes, or watching excerpts posted on YouTube, such as our reviews of Citadels or Werewolf.

If it sounds interesting to you, please email me as per instructions on the casting call page, and feel free to pass that link along to others as well. Thanks!

Sounds like you should visit this, either to film or to recruit people.

I suspect you already know, but just in case it didn't occur to you, I recommend that you do the following:
Print up a flier with contact info and bring it down to Your Move Games. It's on Highland right next to the rite aid (used to be brooks). Talk to the person behind the counter, ask for Jason if possible, explain yourself, and that will get you in with a wider selection of local gamers. Try Monday evenings for a random selection of people and game preferences. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are almost exclusively Magic the Gathering people, but they are the busiest nights as well.

Good luck with your endeavor!

Also visit Pandemonium Books and Games in Central Square, Cambridge, which has many gaming events.
