Is there anywhere around here to play recreational volleyball? I was hoping I could pretend to be a Tufts student and play there, but according to their website, they only have a men's volleyball club.

I believe that the Somerville Recreation Department started a woman's volleyball league (or it may just be a pick-up situation, I'm not sure). Anyway, I don't have details, but check the city web site (ci.somerville.ma.us), and under Departments, click on Recreation Department and look for more info or at least a phone number/e-mail address. My coworker used to be a ref for a recreational league in Waltham. I forget where it was specifically (maybe at the Y?), but if that's not too far for you and you'd be interested, I could see if she has more info.

I remember she said it was more people in their 30s and 40s than fresh-out-of-college kids and they were pretty good players, not just bumbling around for fun. Not sure if that fits your specifications!

Actually, I played in the volleyball club when I went to Brandeis, so that's where I would go if getting to Waltham weren't such a hassle, but thanks anyway!

There are pickup groups at MIT, but you'd have to pay to get into the gym. Let me know if you're interested.
