Every time I see a story like this, I wonder: Who walks around with $125 in their wallet?

A person with a job?

I have a job, and I never carry that much cash. I use my debit card to pay for almost everything. But even before debit cards, I still never carried that much cash.

On the other hand, if you get held up and your debit card gets taken (provided it's one of those usable-wherever-credit-cards-are ones) you're extra-stuck - a friend lost her wallet recently and had her bank account fairly quickly emptied out, and it takes a while for the money to get back in there.

Which is why my ATM card is an ATM card, but not "fake credit card" usable, and I carry a bit more cash.

Do you think $125 is too much or too little?

Ron, that's a pretty useful link. Possible candidate for the davis_square profile page?

I've been noticing the odd robbery in Davis in the police blotter over the past few weeks. On the other hand, vehicle break-ins are back down to the usual dull roar.

Feb. 26, 7:10 p.m., report of an unarmed robbery at Hawthorne and Willow avenues.
Feb. 29, 9:52 a.m., report of a robbery at knifepoint at 5 Davis Square.
( only two other robberies in the entire city )
